NewsLily Allen posts sick note onlineLily Allen has cancelled a handful of festival appearances this week because she's sick - and has posted her doctor's note online to prove it. The singer has been advised to rest after suffering from sinusitis and strep throat and has been order to rest, forcing her to pull out of several European dates. She wrote on her blog: "I've have literally been around the whole world in two weeks from London to Japan around Australia and then to LA and Vegas then back to LA for a 17 hour video shoot, and now I'm back in London eating my mum's chicken soup cause I'm afraid the travelling has caught up with me. I've got sinusitis and strep throat (I don't even know what that is) and have been advised to take a couple of weeks off by a doctor in LA and a doctor here." However Allen got in ahead of anyone who might think she is putting it on by posting a photo of her holding her doctors note on the blog too. "Before anyone starts trying to accuse me of neglecting my fans I want to apologise and say how sorry I am, but I cant risk causing any permanent damage," she explained. "I hope people can understand and aren't too angry." The note can bee seen on her Myspace blog. Meanwhile the following shows are off: Way Out West Festival (11), Sweden, Sagres (15), Portugal, and Lowlands Festival (17), Holland. Her appearances at next weekend's V Festival (August 18-19) is current set to go ahead. Madness to release new single With highlight sets at Glastonbury and Bestival the Madness appeal is one that continues to beguile and entice and 2008 could well be their biggest year yet. The first offering to be taken from Madness?s much anticipated forthcoming album, tentatively titled 'Lucky 7?, the greatest pop band of their generation are set to deliver 'NW5? one of the highlights of their recent run of highly charged festival appearances. Released on 14th January to kick-off the new-year in style, 'NW5? is the perfect precursor for a period of intense activity for the band, that includes some very special live outings and some truly inspired collaborations. The track?s stomping piano hook is the beating heart around which Suggs and Carl hang their spine tingling harmonies. Luxuriant string work and a classic nutty boy arrangement propels the track into its colossal chorus, combining the effortless familiarity of a football chant with the bittersweet pathos of a Madness tale. Madness are set to cause their own inimitable brand of havoc across the UK with their most spectacular shows to date.
